How does Solar Hot Water work?
A solar hot water system uses a thermodynamic approach; the heat of the sun is used to heat water as it flows through narrow tubes, and the resulting hot water is then stored in a hot water cylinder. Solar Hot Water differs from Solar Power (which generates electricity from light) as no electricity is directly generated.
BBE Solar Hot Water systems feature a flick switch that can be used to heat a small supply of hot water using electricity. This is often required on overcast or rainy days when there has not been sufficient sunshine hours to heat hot water. Installing Solar Hot Water can significantly reduce your reliance on electrically heated water, and can reduce your electricity bill by as much as 1/3.
