News Latest Solar News Qld mine fined for dirty activity
The Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd. Mount Gordon copper mine located in North West Queensland is facing fines for not meeting environmental measures.

The mine has been charged with 19 different counts for failing to meet environmental obligations.

It is facing 18 counts for failing to comply with the Environmental Authority and failing to decrease risk of environmental harm plus one count for failing to improve on site water management.

The mine was warned off these infringements yet failed to meet them within a set timeline or fail to develop any kind of action plan.

The max penalty for each of the breaches is $832, 500.

The case will go to court on 10 August 2010.
