Rebates & Solar Credits

Rebates and Solar Credits

Rebates

The Australian Government's Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts promotes two current Rebates and Funding Schemes available to all Australians. They are:

  1. Energy Efficient Homes Package
Installation of ceiling insulation and solar hot water systems rebates.
  2. Rainwater and Greywater Initiative
National initiative to provide rebates for households to install rainwater tanks or greywater systems.

Solar Credits

The Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme guarantees a market for additional renewable energy generation by trading Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The Solar Credits system incentivizes homeowners, business and community groups  that install photovoltaic, wind and hydro systems by multiplying the number of RECs able to be created.

More information is available at the governments website www.climatechange.gov.au

State by State

Each State's Solar Credits offer varies. A solar PV system in Melbourne or Hobart, for example, will receive fewer credits (RECs) because they get less sunshine therefore less renewable energy is produced.
