National Solar Schools Program

The National Solar Schools Program (NSSP) offers grants of $50,000 to schools to install solar power and other sustainability products to help reduce carbon emissions.

To get the full grant, schools need to install a 2kW photovoltaic solar system. With Beyond Building Energy, your school can spend the whole $50,000 on a 5kW photovoltaic system, or choose other sustainability products from other suppliers. Each school has only one opportunity to apply for the grant. To make it easier for you, we’ve partnered with Quality Solar, a local supplier and installer of quality solar hot water systems. We’re also researching the best prices on other sustainable products. Call us to discuss your needs, and we’ll be happy to help you with any questions!

Benefits of installing a 5kW Solar PV System

A solar power system can make inroads into your school’s electricity bill, with a 5kW system potentially generating income for your school. In the case of surplus power being generated, your electricity supplier will credit your school for any electricity your solar power system feds back into the grid. If feed-in tariffs are introduced, the amount of money you can earn may significantly increase.

Costs

You will be notified of all costs before proceeding. If there are extra expenses, you’ll be able to use the money you earn from us selling your Renewable Energy Certificates on your behalf, meaning there will be no out of pocket expenses to your school.
