You need to be part of a neighbourhood, and your neighbourhood needs to be opened first. Your neighbourhood coordinator will let you know when it's time to sign up.

Step 1

Visit our apply page and complete the simple application. You will be given a reference number to write down. You can pay online, or post a cheque with your application. Make sure you write your reference number on the cheque.

Step 2

1. Print out the application form and complete it and sign it. 2. Make photocopies of the following documents: Your current drivers license (FRONT and BACK) MUST SHOW THE SAME ADDRESS AS YOUR INSTALLATION ADDRESS A council rates notice MUST SHOW THE SAME ADDRESS AS YOUR INSTALLATION ADDRESS 3. Post all of the above with the cheque (unless you are paying online) to Beyond Building Energy, Reply Paid 288, Byron Bay, NSW, 2481. If you live on a multiple occupancy, all of the above documents must show proof of your lot number. NO APPLICATIONS CAN BE SUBMITTED WITHOUT THE CORRECT IDENTIFICATION ATTACHED - If you have any queries please email or call us before sending in your application.

The process takes between 6-9 months between a neighbourhood 'closing', and installation happening. We can only start organising the pre installation site visits when all members of the neighbourhood have sent in their payments and paperwork.

We then appoint an installer and organise the pre installation site visits for your neighbourhood.

• During the pre installation visit, you find out if your house is suitable for solar, sign the Federal Government Rebate form and the Electricity Supply Authority form.  The installer will bring these forms with him.  You can find out more about the Solar Homes and Community Rebate, by visiting the rebate website, www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/pv
• We will then advise you of any extra costs that you may incur. Extra costs may be incurred for installation if your roof is unusually difficult to access or shaded, or if your wiring is old and requires upgrading. At this point, you have the opportunity to decide if you want to proceed.
• We send the paperwork off on your behalf.
• The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, (DEWHA), will contact you directly to advise that you have received your Pre-Approval for the Rebate. It takes about 8 weeks to receive the DEWHA approval. The Electricity Supply Authority will also contact you, confirming you are approved to have the BB Energy Saver 1000 connected to the electricity grid. You will receive a pre installation report with your rebate pre approval. Keep this installation report safe until the day of installation, when you should give it to the installer, and he will help you fill it out.
• You notify your neighbourhood coordinator that you have received your Pre Approval for the Rebate, and we organize for the panels to be shipped from our factory. The panels will arrive within 4-5 weeks.
• We will then schedule the installation of your neighbourhood. Installation will be carried out over 4-8 weeks.
• After the panels are successfully installed you sign off on the paperwork and Beyond Building Energy will then send this to DEWHA. It takes between 2-8 weeks for the rebate to come through following the submission of the paperwork.

From the pre approval of the rebate, DEWHA allows for installation to happen anytime in the following 9 months. We aim to install within 6 months of the pre approval being received.

It is important that you are at home on the day of installation to be shown how the system works and to sign off on the rebate and to sign over the RECs to Beyond Building Energy.

The Solar Neighbourhoods Programme is a bulk buying solar programme. Neighbourhoods of at least 50 people each receive a 1kW solar photovoltaic system installed for $895.

• The BB Energy Saver 1000. 1000 watts of solar panels (eg six 170 watt panels) guaranteed for 25 years.
• 1kW inverter, guaranteed for 5 years.
• Installation, guaranteed for 1 year.

The BB Energy Saver 1000 produces approximately 4kWh of electricity per day depending on where you are in Australia; between a third and a quarter of what you use. (More if you are a conservative electricity user.) You will cut your greenhouse gas emissions, and your power bills from the moment you install.

Absolutely! Upgrades are available, at $8000 per 1kW. You can choose to upgrade after you finish your online application.

There may be an additional charge for installation if the roof is unusually difficult to access or it is shaded. Additional costs may also be charged by the electrical supplier if the wiring requires an upgrade or a new meter has to be installed. If there are any additional costs we will advise you before going ahead and give you the opportunity to request a refund.
